Cat under the Starry Sky

Sharing here my cute Procreate painting from another one of Lisa Bardot‘s on-line classes. And what a fun session this was! I wasn’t sure what to expect then but I am happy how it all turned out. This one is called Starry Sky which is inspired by Mary Blair, that famous illustrator for Walt Disney animations. Here, Lisa also introduces her amazing set of Gouache Paintbox brushes and through her lesson, we get familiar with them in order to develop a stunning moonlight-themed painting with depth, texture and atmosphere.

And this is my version. Lisa painted a house on top of the hill, but I went for a black cat! And why not make it my own style? We went through a range of brushes from the Gouache Paintbox to create that misty atmosphere and dreamy mood. Challenging but exciting! It’s not often that I paint night-time scenes, and learning to add depth using different textures and shades of blues certainly came in handy. Till now, I never noticed how the color combination of blues and greys can be stunning. And I love how the moon and the cat’s eyes stand out! Such eerie cuteness.
