More art journalling to share here! Just randomly experimenting with colors and doodling away then developing it all into a cute little painting. With many art supplies I had not touched in years, I was also keen to return to them. It has been a very strange Spring this year with lots of rain and cold weather, followed by a week or two of heatwave, then back to cold rainy weather. Not a very Springtime feeling! So I suppose this painting clearly reflects what’s been on my mind when I think of this. Flowers, yes. Greenery, yes. But more blue not because of the sky but because of the somber mood. And Little One agrees too! As she wears her pretty pink frock to bring out positive vibes, she prays all will turn out for the better.

Dylusions acrylic paint, though not quite professional grade, offer some amazingly brilliant shades. Spread some across the page of my Strathmore’s Sketchbook for Mixed Media, followed by some Ice Green Acryla Gouache. Then glued scrap bits of origami paper on the corners before painting Little One. That bright pink color of her dress was made possible with Holbein’s gouache, and what a powerful color that is! For the first time in ages, I also experimented with rubber stamp, just that one plant Little One is holding, before coloring that with Gold Acryla gouache. Finishing touches with glitter glues and gold relief paint.

A great warm up and fun experiment with various mediums and art supplies! I’m so glad I was able to rediscover old stuff like Dylusion Paints and rubber stamping which I should definitely continue using more often. Sketchbook journaling is a great way to continue getting creative in between bigger projects, and I shall definitely be doing this more often too. Meanwhile, doesn’t Little One look ever so adorable?
