Zooming: Queen Kuma

From my Kawaii Zooming painting emerge some mini paintings depicting these happy friends getting together on Zoom! This artwork, to recap, was inspired by the Zoom meeting organized by my classmates from high school. I took that opportunity to integrate many of my whimsical animals and characters onto one paper and turn it into something cute. As I continued painting, I further realised that each of the characters also have a story to tell just as my classmates had over what’s been going on with their lives. What a great chance to get even more creative: First with the painting and then with the story-telling!

And who have we here… Queen Kuma! That’s right, the queen of all teddy bears. Apparently, Kuma means “bear” in Japanese, and her full name is “Kawaii Kuma-chan” which means cute little teddy bear! How sweet is that. Like LIttle One, Kuma loves making her own costumes and dressing up, and they visit each other to play. So today, she decided to be queen. Kuma’s favorite color is purple so for this special occasion she is donning a purple robe in a fluffy velvet material along with a gorgeous string of pearls. Doesn’t she look regal? How sweet, she even had a pretty gold tiara made for her by Little One who then crowned her as queen of all teddy bears! Naturally, Kuma has taken the honor of wearing it to the Zoom meeting. “Wow, I love your outfit”, praise her friends, “can’t wait till the pandemic is over so we can have a huge costume party soon!”
