Leaning Tower of Pisa

And still enjoying our road trip!  We are now in Livorno. Italy where we’ll be catching an early boat tomorrow morning to sail to Corsica island.  This morning, a short drive we did to Pisa to check out that famous Leaning Tower dating back to as far as 1173.   Interestingly enough, I myself have been to Italy so many times since I was a teenager but never ventured by that famous monument!  It was bigger than I had imagined and so wow.  And of course I had to paint about it!

And here is a quick sketch on my mini  Strathmore Visual Journal for Mixed Media (190 gsm).  I went for watercolor this time, my new set of Daniel Smith pans I had recently purchased.  It was pretty straight forward directly drawing it even without an initial pencil sketch.  Only challenge was getting the proportions reasonably correct but here it is.  Though simple and very basic I’m  happy with how it turned out and look forward to sketching more amazing architecture during this trip!
