Still reminiscing about our Alpine adventure from few weeks ago! My Switzerland Travel Poster is complete but not everything is done and dusted. With the poster being about Little One and her whimsical animal friends like Hello Kitty, I also wanted to paint about us: Me and my boyfriend! In kawaii style of course, and in “analog” since the poster was done digitally with Procreate. How about in dry media like pastels for a change, given my art journaling was in inks and watercolor?

Here PanPastels seemed the perfect choice. A great chance to continue practicing with this amazing medium with its resulting velvety finish and color intensity. Recently I helped myself to a set of newly-released 2025 Edition PanPastels that come in 53 new colors in addition to the existing 80. Another set of seven followed for Skin Tones followed, and as you can imagine I was keen to experiment here! The outlines and finer details were done with Derwent Pastel Pencils.

And look how adorable we look! The skin tones were a challenge as was working with earthy tones and creating variety with them for the mountains. Nevertheless all went well in the end, and most important was that I had so much pleasure creating this piece. And tomorrow evening off we travel on another roadtrip, this time to Corsica, and of course I’m bringing my sketchbook and art supplies with me! Curious what interesting stuff lies ahead to paint about…
