So leaving Japan and back to the Netherlands tomorrow, and here is the last of the Tokyo doodles for this trip! These ones are mainly focused on my rather extensive trips out here. With all the clothes that stock my size and the kawaii stuff displayed, you can imagine it’s like visiting a candy store!
Another Dress!
At a mere five-footer, I somewhat ended up living in the land of the world’s tallest average and consequently have difficulty finding stuff that fits me. It is also the range of vivid colors and feminine styles available in Japan that appeal to me more. And like the red dress I bought the other day, I came across a gorgeous emerald green one later as well. And of course I grabbed it! Then in another shop I helped myself to a black dress with lots of cute cat and flowers patterns. I had to have that too! And here I am doodling away those cats, getting more ideas on how to draw them cutely. Flowers too. What drew me to replicating them on my sketchbook are the fun shapes and facial expressions of our new feline friends. What an inspiration for my whimsical animal artwork!
Hello Kitty Addict
And apart from pretty dresses, I’m a real sucker for Hello Kitty! Japan of course is the place to be for this. My collection back in the Netherlands is getting quite full though, and it’s not even funny. As such, I did promise myself to limit my purchases and even avoid the Sanrio shops. But the temptation was too much to resist! There were new products and limited-edition collaborations with a few fashion brands that I too had to have them. And now where to store them I will have to worry about when I get back home! To make packing easier, the tags of the items were removed, the cute ones saved and a few glued onto my sketchbook along with Hello Kitty stickers too. Then doodling around them for added cuteness. I’m definitely a Hello Kitty Addict!!
And so concludes my adventures and doodling for this trip before my sketchbook and art supplies get packed away in my suitcase. What fun sessions they were! Just spending a few minutes a day certainly kept my creative juices intact and developed inspiration for more cuteness. Can’t wait to get back to my art studio and apply my discoveries in my work soon!
