And now, going back to the art retreat I attended with Lisa Bardot a month ago in Portugal! I took a little break in between writing about it and focused on other projects so as to not bore my readers whoever and wherever you are. And during my time there at the retreat, we learned to design Azulejo tiles, for which Portugal is well known. This was all done digitally on Procreate using the concept of radial symmetry as outlined in Algarve Art Retreat: Tile Design Part 2. Whilst there, I naturally had to create one featuring Hello Kitty of course!! I’m a fanatic as you can see.

It’s a bit wonky but was quite good practice and so much fun of course! I might tweak it and tidy it up a bit, but I do like it the way it is, especially as it was an impromptu idea I had thought of during classes. The blue, white and yellow colors, typically used in Azulejo tiles are perfect for Hello Kitty too! Well it here it is, and maybe I might like to design more such kawaii tiles. This one, meanwhile, was further developed as part of another painting which I’ll be sharing shortly so watch this space!
