Mid-Century Girl

And as proposed in my blog Fun with A. Gallo’s Mid-Century Colors, I have now come up with a kawaii drawing of Little One! And what a cool outfit she is wearing. Mid-Century seems be the 1950s, but Little One herself is being progressive! She forecasts a big change in the next decade featured in a Mu’umu’u-style dress with a big flower on the front, adorned with flowers around her head. “Flower Power”, as it would later be known….

A fun experiment with the latest of A. Gallo’s watercolor pans from Italy, this time featuring 24 colors and labeled “Mid-Century”. What impressed me was the vibrant colors which is “very Italian” and how beautifully they turned out in this painting. Here I used Strathmore’s Visual Journal for Watercolors in A4 size (300 gsm). Once again,wet-on-wet method was used by combining different shades.

A. Gallo’s watercolors are a bit pricey but definitely worth an investment. I would say at par with Japan’s Kuretake Gansai Tambi and Germany’s Kremer Pigmente. In terms of color intensity and vibrancy, I would say A. Gallo may be my favorite choice. Meanwhile, doesn’t Little One look very adorable? Look forward to painting more of her!
