Kawaii Ox

Just quickly sharing a pencil sketch I made the other day. Sometimes it’s good to give the paint brushes a break and go back to the basics. It’s 2021 now and the Year of the Ox so why not practice drawing an ox? Pencil sketches are also a great way to familiarize myself better with light and shade, something I should go back to from time to time. Rather than draw still life or portraits, I prefer to practice with imaginary whimsical animals!

For my pencil sketches I use my set of Graphite Line by Caran d’Ache which comes in 15 degrees of hardness ranging from 4H to 9B. Handy is that they come in a cylindrical can with a sponge inside the top so you can also transport them around safely. I enjoy sketching as it helps me relax. And of course practice makes perfect. Even if not perfect, that’s ok too!
