On Modelling Pastes

Doing a bit of an experiment with acrylic mediums here, and one of the most commonly used is modelling paste.

Quite gel-like and light in consistency it acts as a bit of a thickener for acrylic painting. And adds texture. Certainly came handy for adding some dimension for my flower panting. I liked using it when illustrating veins in the leaves 🍃

And I further tried the modelling paste when adding stamens to flowers. Just took a small thin brush and as with the leaf veins traced the area I wanted lifted out by gently tapping the surface with a dollop of the paste.

Soon you will see a painting I have been working on featuring flowers using a variety of acrylic mediums. These are just a tip of the iceberg.
