Finally after some thinking, drafting and tweaking, my Switzerland Travel Poster is now ready to share here! This idea was inspired from Lisa Bardot‘s Procreate Art Retreat last May in Algarve, Portugal. There, it was our project to design a travel poster for Portugal. And what a brilliant idea it was! During our time there, we observed our surroundings and learned to sketch (both analog and digital) everything we got inspired by: Architecture, people, animals, flowers, landscapes, food, etc., as a basis for this travel poster. I learned so much not only creatively, but also about the country more. And from then on, I promised myself that wherever I travel, I also do the same thing: Observe, sketch and learn so that in the end a comprehensive travel poster can be created for fun! Our 10-day sojourn to the Swiss Alps a few weeks ago was a great motivation. As you may have noticed in my past blogs, I shared quite a few doodles and sketches during my trip depicting anything that was uniquely “Swiss”. Those ideas were then transferred into this poster with even more added cuteness!
See Little One playing the Alphorn, a typical Swiss wind instrument, with the mountains in the background. And don’t forget the Swiss chalet, complete with that cute Rundschindeln facade, which made such an impression on me. So impressive that how could I not incorporate it with cute little characters peeking out the windows to watch their little friend play the horn? Of course the beautiful alpine flowers and the special mountain sheep completed the picture. Oh, let’s not forget Hello Kitty appearing from the middle of the mountain too! More cuteness. For this poster, I used Lisa’s Gouache Paintbox brushes along with a variety of texture brushes from both the Procreate default sets and add-ons. It took quite some time to get this to a presentable level of perfection but the whole process was so enjoyable and quite a learning curve. And next week, we are off to Corsica, France on a road trip. Very much looking forward to what I can cook up from there!
By the way, you may be wondering what it written below “Switzerland”. スイス means Switzerland in Japanese, my native language, since I thought this kawaii poster might appeal to the audience too back home haha!
