Ever come across a painting you started and somehow never got around to finishing then cast it aside, only to find years later? Or it could be one that you were not sure whether or not to continue or were stuck on it and told yourself you’ll come back to it but never did? I was sorting out my sketchbooks before our art retreat in Italy and came across this gem! This was on the first page of one of my A3-sized Canson’s Mixed Media sketchbooks. Can’t remember exactly when I painted this, but it sure is cute: Kitties, bunnies, doggies and bears in abstract form!

I have absolutely no idea when I even started it or why. Perhaps I was testing my new art supplies? It was definitely one of those “let’s experiment with something kawaii” and see what happens moments. As for medium, some yellow oil pastel can be detected on the first layer, but what paint did I use for the second layer? I have a feeling it is the Holbein watercolor set in Pastel colors, and I if were indeed testing it, the painting must be at least 4 years old! I quite like it the way it is and wouldn’t change it or add anything further. Amazing how we find something like this by chance, not sure what do with it at the time and can now consider it as a completed masterpiece!
