Well not really a whole day of hiking. Rather a 2.5 km wander around the mountainous areas of Sulden, the area we had been yesterday. (In the last blog entry I erroneously got confused with Sölden which is in Austria, my apologies). Weather improved today with relatively clearer skies so up the mountain we decided to be and have a wander.around! Drove to Sulden again but opted for a different cable car to take us to a sunnier area. We would have repeated yesterday’s trail, but looks like the area was covered in clouds. Smart move because as soon as we got there, what stunning views! And this time, we dressed more warmly. Those clothes we had bought on sale at the sports shop in Sulden yesterday certainly came in handy!

After a drink, we proceeded with the walk. 2.5 km walk may not seem much, but it quite grueling uphill. The surfaces were rough and pebbly requiring good hiking boots and walking sticks. With the warmer clothes this time, we were well prepared! Although I’m quite fit, the higher altitude and uphill were an added challenge. We just took our time and continued as far as we could, keeping in mind we were there for the beautiful scenery too. Spotted glaciers on the mountain tops and passed by areas where landslides had occurred during a storm a few days ago. Quite scary but safe to go through now. After a few hours, we decided to call it a day and promise ourselves to keep practicing hiking in the mountains to get fitter. And now… a well-deserved Apfelstrudel as late lunch!
