Happy New Year to my readers! Praying for a prosperous and peaceful 2024 with lots of positive vibes! 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, according to Chinese calendar. However, the Japanese like myself celebrate New Year on the 1 January whist the Chinese won’t be commemorating it until 10 February. A great excuse for more festivities! And here I am sharing a simple watercolor painting for this special day:
A little attempt at drawing a dragon which however ended up kinda cute! First had to sketch one with white chalk pencil on a sheet of Rembrandt black watercolor paper by Talens. Then I filled it all in with metallic watercolor, my favorite at the moment being Kremer Pigmente from Germany. All natural minerals with very rich shades as you can see! I then embellished the lashes, tail, fins and paw with glitter glue for texture and further bling. Finally the writing was in white chalk and Uni Posca marker. Kawaii little dragon who wishes everyone a fantastic Year of the Dragon!
