Farewell to Summer

It’s been indeed a warm September and even part of October! Although the daytime temperatures of 20℃ are expected to remain till next week, it looks like Little One will have to say goodbye to summer shortly The flowers are still around but she is sad to see them go soon. And she’ll miss those beautiful bright colors of summer. So today, she decided to dress up pretty in hot pink with a matching flower garland with shimmers of gold to really make the most of what is remaining in the warmer months!

Pencil Sketch

And here is a great opportunity to go for some Procreate digital painting. Think of all the possible textures, colors and effects one can create! This time, I began with a light blue background and made a brief sketch with the Procreate Pencil. Good start.

First Layers of Color

Once happy with the layout, I went about filling in the color with the Medium Airbrush, assigning a different layer for each area, ie. face, hair, dress ground, sky etc. The strandy effect of her hair was achieved by the Flowing Hair texture brush. Cool isn’t it? Then for the background, I incorporated some clouds and flashes of Flare light. So far so cute!

Enhancing Texture

More Flare Light was dotted about the background whilst switching the light mode to Overlay. In between the Flare Light and Clouds layers came the Leafy Green Mix. Then the ground a Grainy Spray. The dress was spread with some White Dot Patterns with a neon light collar. Bling was furthered with some gold Glitter FIll in the flowers and Glitter Sketch pen for the eyelashes. And here we are! All these glittery and neon texture brushes are add-ons available in Creative Market.

Another fun play with digital art! One of the best ways to get creative when you don’t feel like getting messy or having to unload all your art supplies. Often I would also paint away with Procreate whilst sitting in front of the TV! And what a wonderful way to get Little One looking all pretty in pink. She will indeed miss the warmer months, but I will certainly be drawing more of her whatever the season because she is ever so adorable!
