Springtime Stroll

A strange spring it has been! A bit chillier for March-end and raining on and off. Nevertheless, the flowers are starting to bloom beautifully and the leaves emerging. The sun may not always be shining, but we take the opportunity when possible to put our walking shoes on for an at least a half-hour wander around the neighborhood to admire the views. And of course, the fresh air certainly does us good especially after being couped up indoors much of the winter!

So how about a sweet happy sketch about it? I was somewhat in the mood for colored pencils this time as it has been a while since using them. This time I went for Faber Castells set of Polychromos pencils and a recently-purchased pad of Canson’s Natural White Drawing Paper (224 gsm) which I was keen to test. And very impressed I was with both! The pencils are soft and strongly-pigmented, yielding a smooth and even color. As you can see, they certainly bring out the bright vivid Sprimg mood! And the cuteness too of course.

So wonderful to go back to colored pencils again! Also helps when you have top quality ones like the Poluchromos. Good quality paper is also crucial to enhance the colors properly. Very pleased with the outcome and would definitely like to keep practicing and churning out more kawaii drawings again soon!
