Winter Bunny!

Back again! And sharing here another kawaii painting of a bunny, this time whilst following Juliette Crane‘s Whimsical Animals on-line classes. This 6th unit, Creating Contrast, calls for painting an animal with a softer appearance but making it pop out more by introducing contrast. Whilst Juliette painted her customary owl, I went for a bunny! And what a perfect opportunity as the winter this year was rather cold and depressing, and painting something as adorable and kawaii definitely lightened up our dreary days.

A small square canvas was used here, along with a variety of acrylic paint, starting with the bottom layer of flourescent red and orange. Then some teal and scribbles with water soluble pastel in violet before incorporating my bunny. My cute little white bunny. And what a pretty frock she is donning! That was created with bits of origami paper.. Sap Green and Payne’s Grey were then layered on the background to contrast the white bunny along with some Green Gold on the bottom to add some glow. Finally some bling with glitter gel, acryl gouache and cut out from some wrapping paper for the gold moon . Mediums used:

And what fun that was! Though created back in early-February, I didn’t get around writing about it till now since I have been quite poorly the past few weeks. Still in treatment and looking forward to recovery, and writing about this piece is certainly helping get my energy back to paint freely like this again! Now looking forward to resuming the next unit where I had left off…
