As the beautiful snow stayed on after a heavy spell, I spent the weekend mornings wandering around our village and beyond. Getting cooped up indoors to watch the pretty scenery was not bad, but after a few days, I was itching to get out for some fresh air. Besides, this may be the last time we get this much snow here in the Netherlands for a very long time. Last time it snowed so heavily was apparently in around 1979! And of course I had to make the most of it, or I will regret it for sure. So I excitedly took the plunge on Saturday. And so mesmerized I was that I decided to try out the other side of our village the next morning! Took loads of photos of course and had so much fun exploring that I forgot how cold it was. The only thing that sucked though was that my partner was not with me. He is out in Austria skiing with his two boys and sadly could not join this adventure. Oh well! Before his trip, though, he has been driving to nature reserves take photos so he’s been able to experience beautiful snow in the Netherlands too.

And now a digital painting I created imagining what it would have been like to enjoy the snow together outside! So much fun I had with this too. Although Procreate’s Medium Airbrush was the basis, it was a great opportunity to try out a range of texture brushes, including of course snow and clouds. I also experimented with sets of brushes outside the Procreate range including Animal Prints, Pattern Brushes and Eldar Sakirov’s Fur brushes all available on Creative Market. To enhance the snowy effect on the ground, Procreate’s spray paint brushes were also applied. And now, I must say I love how the painting turned out. We both look so cute too! Feeling much less lonely now having painted this. Not the best timing and perhaps not the same as both being together here, but what counts is that we are still together in our hearts. And we can always enjoy each other’s company elsewhere. In fact, we are both traveling to Switzerland soon for some winter sports, where we can also have fun walking in the snow together!
