Slowly getting into the Christmas mood though somewhat subdued and rather reluctantly. Just been quite busy and preoccupied with the house that I wanted to avoid the added stress so no Christmas tree in the house this year, not even decorations! That said, I was hoping that setting some time aside with painting might help. And whilst am at it, how about a Christmas theme to make up for the lack of the festive decorations? Here I went for Little One dressed as a pretty angel! And how is that for some mood lifting?

Recently, I had purchased a new set of Pan Pastels containing new shades, including skin tones, pearlescent and metallic. And what a perfect opportunity here to try them out! I first sketched my angel with pastel pencils on a sheet of Clairefontaine’s Pastelmat in Anthracite, an almost black dark grey, a suitable choice as it let the gold wings and halo and pearlescent white dress pop out so beautifully, No fixatives needed on the Pastelmat as the teeth grips the colors so well. Besides, working with Pan Pastels is less messy as well which is a blessing, Easy peasy and less stressful!

And now very pleased with how my Little Angel turned out! As mentioned earlier, the colors stand out so beautifully against the dark background, certainly enhancing the serenity. Looking at this also gives me some peace especially during my hectic schedule. Now I’m starting to get into the swing of things again and look forward to creating and sharing more festive artwork in the coming days!
