Although Autumn is my least favorite season as it gets colder and dark earlier, I do love how the leaves change colors! Whether they’re still hanging onto the tree branches or have already fallen onto the ground, the sceneries are just stunning. And one of the best places in the world for this is in Japan! When I think of Autumn in Japan, the first thing that comes to mind is Momiji. These are the Japanese maple leaf which turn into vivid shades of red and orange, symbolizing typical Japanese autumn just as the Sakura cherry blossoms do for rhe springtime. And as I’m incidentally flying to Japan in two days, I’ve been so excited that I wanted to paint about it!

Digital art seemed a good choice this time as it would be a great opportunity to try out some more Procreate brushes, both old and new. Once all the momiji was sketched, I filled them in with Soft Fine Grainy Spray from Jason’s Paints set. Then some experimenting with a range of Floral Pattern brushes from the Pattern Brushes for Procreate set . The background was then switched to dark blue, scattered with some more floral patterns amd gold glitter from the Gold Rush set. And wow, I am very happy with how it all turned out! What a great way to start my two weeks in Japan. Now I’m really looking forward to it!
All these sets of brushes used here are available on Creative Market.
