The other day, I came across on TV a stunning view of the pink sky. I have no idea where it was taken but it certainly left an impression! And how is it possible that the sky could turn pink? I had to look it up: This phenomenon typically occurs during sunrise or sunset when sun is lower down but light needs to travel via the atmosphere to reach us. As light get scattered, blue goes first due to its shorter wavelength, whilst red manages to pass through to reach our eyes. And the pink? That happens when elements like dust or water droplets are in the atmosphere, a sign that rain is on the way. How cool is that, and of course something worth painting about!

This time, I went for digital painting with Procreate. Watercolor brushes seemed a great choice here especially taking into consideration the cloud-like textures and misty appearance of the scenery. It was further by chance that I had recently purchased a new set of watercolor color brushes, Everything Watercolor available on Cteative Market. Besides an extensive range of brushes, the package even includes some textured cold pressed watercolor paper! Naturally, a great way to try them all out which came with satisfying results as you can see. I ended up developing an abstract piece for this theme, as this stunning pink sky phenomenon is about colors and light. And now that I’m happy with how it all turned out, perhaps a watercolor painting on paper next?
