Me and my boyfriend are back again featuring in my artwork! This time, it involves another experiment with the new brushes since the Procreate update. And here we have the Markers Set which comes in ten different brushes, a perfect opportunity to sample and see what cute doodles I can come up with. This one started simple and “elementary” but nevertheless, adorable because it, of course, involves me and my BF!

On a grey background I began experimenting with the variety of available brushes in the Markers set. I love them! Each have their own characteristic in terms of strokes and consistency. So far the drawing turned out so sweet, but something was missing and I couldn’t figure out what. I was stuck! The painting was then cast aside for a few weeks whilst I began focusing on other projects. Then just now, it transpired me: How about switching the background to something colorful and abstract rather than continue with that futile attempt at doodling a “landscape”? And now we’re talking!

First I duplicated the green undulating green “grass” three times and lined them on top of each other to cover the entire page. The “sun” on the top left corner was no longer to be because I duplicated that as well. Duplicate was then flipped and rotated before getting tucked into the adjacent corner. Both were then expanded. For further effect, I tweaked a bit with the Blending Mode as well. How beautiful did this background turn out! Painting was finally concluded by merging the layers of each of the two characters to expand and move around. Much better! Very pleased at how this simple doodle became a cute abstract illustration, all using just markers!
