Adjusting to Autumn

It’s past the middle of October already! Yikes, and nearly Halloween too. Clocks will switch to Winter Time this coming weekend, and Im not looking forward to it! It’s getting darker earlier and more dreary everyday. But what can we do? Perhaps see the positive side of it? How about noticing the beauty of this season? The changing colors of the leaves for instance! And so I grabbed my watercolors and decided to paint away…

Strathmore’s pad of Watercolor Paper was selected for this painting. Thanks to its wonderfully thick 300 gsm top quality cold-pressed finish, the results were amazing! It further helped that I chose a fine quality watercolor set such as Kremer’s Pigmente which is derived from natural pigments. As finishing touch, a bit of fluorescent pink was introduced for some edge.

And now, autumn can’t be that bad can it? I would have added a bit more to the painting such as drawing in fine details with a white gel pen. Or a wash of blue for the background. But I like it the way it is, and I don’t think I’d want to change a thing.
