I’m back now! We were away for a week during which time I had very little time to get creative with family over from Japan, although I have come back more refreshed with new ideas and inspirations for my next paintings. Meanwhile here, sharing here a cute pastel sketch from prior to our break last week! So what have we here?
It’s Little One Again!
August began with some very strange weather. Boiling hot one day then cooler temperatures the next. Bright and sunny one minute then torrential rain the next. Can’t tell anything anymore! And naturally, Little One us quite confused too. “What should I wear today?” she ponders away. As it starts with sunny, she dons her cute little pink frock and walks to the park for a short stroll. Then suddenly come the clouds and showers start followed by violent downpour, when she runs to the shade and out appears the sun. And the cycle repeats. So adorable of Little One, though, and what a good sport she is just getting on with it. I think it deserves a little sketch!

Art Supplies Used
Firstly I went for a page from Strathmore’s Toned Grey sketchbook, a good start to depict the change in the sky: Cloudy or sunny? Derwent’s pastel pencils were for the initial sketch followed by filling in colors with Faber Castell’s Soft Pastels, then back to the pencils for the finer details. For the white bits, I drew with white chalk pencil by Koh-I-Noor.

A short and simple sketch but very cute! I love how bright vivid the colors pop out against the grey background. And what better things to do when the weather is so unpredictable outside:? Get creative and paint cute things to stay positive! Drawing this certainly cheered me up. Let’s do more!
