Wow, time flies! It’s been over 6 weeks since Tracy Verdugo’s art retreat in Montelparo in Italy. Before the course began, though, we spent a week beforehand traveling in the Lago Maggiore area. We’d been there before a few years ago and loved it so much that we returned! One of our favorite spots is the mountainous region in Laveno located in Varese Province.
In particular, we enjoyed the cable car ride up the Sasso del Ferro, approximately 1100 meters. What made this experience so unique is the cable car itself! It’s a two seater, well more likely a standing room in the form of a huge bucket you step into. You can choose one with a hatch or open-air. A bit scary but exciting, even cute! And so I was determined to paint about this with an even more kawaii twist. Digital Art with Procreate seemed a logical choice to enhance the animated cuteness.
Initially, I was sole passenger as I am considering making another painting of just me and boyfriend in the cable car but decided to add him here too. Good choice… And look how sweet he looks taking photos with his phone! Here I also introduced Hello Kitty and her twin sister Mimmy in the picture. And bunny and teddy bear made another cute pair to join the scene. They all look so adorable together! Medium Airbrush was the main “medium”, followed by a variety of texture brushes like Leafy Green, clouds, flare light and textured dots. Played around with the light mode as well. And now… what a sweet happy painting of us enjoying our vacation in the Italian mountains!
My Kawaii Quarter
