Happy Easter 2025!

It’s the Easter weekend! Despite my rather busy schedule, I’ve managed to squeeze in a few hours last night to get creative for this occasion. Not a Christian myself, though, I do not actively celebrate this holiday as a religious one, so the first things that comes to mind are bunnies and eggs. But what do bunnies and eggs have to do with the rebirth of Jesus? After some research, I discovered they have actually been symbolic for centuries: Rabbits symbolize fertility and new life because of their high reproduction rate, and of course eggs are about reproduction. Both thus represent new life, hence resurrection, which is in turn associated with Jesus’ rebirth! Apparently, this connection arose in the 17th Century in Europe, eventually finding its way to the U.S. by German immigrants. How interesting. Now of course, bunnies and eggs are now considered more a marketing gimmick and still an effective one, for that matter, because bunnies are cute!

So now that I am better informed, I can comfortably pursue a kawaii painting of a painted Easter Egg featuring Little One dressed as an Easter bunny! Doesn’t she look adorable donned in her pink jumpsuit and with huge bunny ears? Choice of medium this time was Procreate digital painting, something I have not yet done before for Easter. Just some sweet happy art using Crayon brushes, more specifically FT Toon Crayon available on Creative Market. Crayons were specifically selected as I felt they went with the inner-child cuteness of what I wanted to achieve. For the background, I had a play around with the Light Modes and introduced the Flower Power brush on the bottom to spread the pink out more but subtly. Very happy how it all turned out despite having trouble getting my handwriting perfect. Never mind, it is the cuteness that counts!

And a HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL!!
