Been busy painting again but so little time to write about it! I’m still continuing with Alena Hennessy’s Four Muses unit in her on-line classes Watercolor Wonder, in which we practice portrait painting as outlined in Four Muses: Part One. Now all the four paintings are almost complete, along with a bonus one for practice as I am enjoying this lesson so much! Today I would like to share the second Muse, once again featuring Little One but in a different style. So what have we here?

Once again, I went for Canson’s A4 Watercolor paper and Kremer’s Pigmente watercolors for Skin Tones. The difference, though, was that for this second muse we skip the pencil sketch and directly draw with the paintbrush. I was skeptical about whether I’d get it right, but sure enough it turned out more than just fine! Could that be just plain beginner’s luck? I love how spontaneous it looks, even quite mysterious and quite out of the ordinary from many of the Little One paintings I’ve done. Plus I enjoyed it and am rather proud to be able to once again step out of my comfort zone!
