And here is the final of the “ski mojo” trilogy! Getting my confidence back since my knee injury 2 years ago from skiing really means a lot to me. I have been quite scared of downhill skiing even before that little accident. Although I skied as a child when my parents sent me to ski camps between ages 8 and 13 in Japan, I unfortunately never had the chance to continue since the organisers returned to the U.S. Then as you get older, you somehow develop a stronger sense of “safety” followed by fears and even phobia. It was height and speed in my case, two crucial hinderances when it comes to downhill skiing. It was not till 40 long years later, apart from a brief stint on the baby slopes in Germany in between, that I met my partner who talked me into skiing again. To be honest, I never enjoyed it at all but I reluctantly went along with it. It was only this time that I took a step forward. At the suggestion of my partner, I invested in some private ski lessons to learn correct techniques for safe skiing. What further helped was having a wonderfully encouraging instructor and patient one for that matter. Once I got the hang of it, my confidence returned…

And just for fun, I made this kawaii digital painting! It’s me in the form of Little One having achieved that step forward. Fluorescent pink helmet cover with a gold “crown” on top is actually what I wear along with matching pink gloves and a neon yellow ski jacket. Thought the crown is kinda cute and funny. And you can’t lose sight of me, can you? Who knows, I might like to get a Hello Kitty helmet cover one day as well! And now for the background, I imported a photo I had taken during my ski break, a humble snow-covered landscape with ski lifts behind, as typical of ski pistes as you can get. This photo was then Gessian blurred before introducing clouds and snow with the relevant texture brushes. With the Procreate Pencil, I then sketched Little One before coloring her in with the Medium Airbrush. Then the textures were added, mainly with Gold Rush brush for the crown to enhance the bling. And don’t forget those sparkly eyelashes traced over with Glitter Brush pen! And what positive vibe this painting brings. Hoping for more positive vibes too for future ski adventures to come!
