A short message wishing everyone out there a Happy New Year and Prosperous 2025! It’s been a very busy year with so much travelling, even flying to Japan three times for work. Great to see family and friends too but it can be exhausting. And there is also the on-going organizing of our house and redecorating our garden. Hopefully in the coming year I will have more spare time to focus on my hobbies including painting! Would love to get even more creative again. So plans for the rest of 2024? Getting a bit to old (ha!) for the NYE revelry so more or less staying home to chill with my loved one, maybe go out and greet our neighbors around midnight. New Years Day is visiting his mom and having late lunch with family. Too bad we’re not back in Japan as it would have been so interesting for my Dutch partner to visit the Shinto Shrines and pray for a prosperous 2025. And you, how will you be celebrating New Years, and what are your hopes and wishes for the coming year?
And here is a rather sparkly digital painting I created drawing 2024 to a close. Procreate is such a wonderful tool! Here I mainly used Medium Airbrush for the drawing and the Flowing Hair to add more texture to the hair. And now the illuminations. Available on Creative Market, Gold Rush set of brushes are a godsend for creating glitter and sparkles. Eyes were lined with glitter, and hats were covered with the gold confetti. I also love the Lights set of brushes also from Creative Market. Light Pen and Neon Pens were used for my string of pearls and the writing above. And don’t forget to play around with the Blending Mode! Incidentally, purple is associated with abundance according to the Chinese, believed to attract wealth and prosperity, and more the reason this color was chosen as background.
