The Friendly Dog

Little One is approached by a doggy again!  That’s because she’s so sweet and they sense she loves animals so much.  The other day, she was over at friend’s tea party sitting around a round table chatting away,  Suddenly her friends looked at her and started giggling. She then turned her head sideways wondering what was funny and noticed the dog was peering in her face like he wanted to whisper something in her ear! How cute. And of course we need to paint about that, a story that was inspired by something that happened to me about a month ago.

Pencil Sketch

And here is a sketch on a page from my Strathmore Visual Journal for Mixed Media.  Simple and easy!

Color Me Beautiful

Began with tracing the hair and drawiing hearts with Jaxons oil pastels, followed by a wash of Turquoise 661 Ecoline ink in the background.  Some imprints of bubble wrap was then added with Daler & Rowney Pearlescent Turquoise acrylic ink.  Looks great so far!

Finish Off

Little One and doggy were then coloured in with water soluble oil pastels (Neocolor II and Art Philosophy).  Some light grey 704 Ecolone ink was also added on doggy, with the stand painted in gold acryla gouache.  As I no longer liked the hearts I had drawn earlier, I covered some with Mulberry paper heart die-cuts  and introduced teddy bears as well.  Fine details like eyes were then drawn in with coloured pencils, followed by a touch of diamond glitter glue on the dress collar.  And now!

A simple painting this time but certainly captures this cute moment!  It was also fun going back to using oil pastels again, including the water soluble ones.  Look forward to more cute moments like this for creative inspiration and then paint away!
