Oh no, Bad weather today! Can’t really complain though since the last few days, it was way to warm and unusually humid for Southwest France. Today’s temperatures were finally more bearable though it rained most of the day. So what to do? Have a Spa Day! Recommended by the owners of the apartment we’re staying, we drove an hour to a Spa complex called Balmea, located in Loudenvielle, and wow! This place boasts a number of warm pools and baths including an onsen-style bath outside (Bains Japonais as it was called how cute), Roman baths, jacuzzis, heated loungers, dry sauna and a Hammam-inspired steam room. For a mere €24 you can enjoy the lot for two hours, and we sure did! A very friendly atmosphere too. Although my French has gotten rusty over the years, everyone both staff and customers were very helpful. You just need to bring your own swimsuit and towel.

And so we enjoyed every moment of this, and the two hours went by so quickly! You can of course opt to stay longer at €6 per half-hour but we decided we had enough for the first time and might like to return soon during this trip anyway. Funny thing is, during the whole eight years of knowing my partner, I never even knew he was into spas. We never dwelled upon the possibility when discussing vacation plans. Now we shall! And of course when we’re back home, that’s something to look into for a romantic weekend getaway. The drive back to the apartment took over an hour, passing by all the beautiful nature of the Pyrenees. We were so relaxed and yet felt a bit lazy so instead of cooking or going out for dinner, we just had a little party in the apartment with some French cheese and pâté we had bought at them supermarket yesterday!
