Big Ribbons

Little One is a huge fan of Hello Kitty. And today, she is celebrating the first of March as the coming of Spring by wearing a big ribbon on her hair! More explicitly on her left side of course. That is because Hello Kitty’s trademark is her ribbon which she wears on her left ear. As the days get warmer, all the cute animals start to appear outside and the first she sees is a neighborhood cat meandering nearby. “Hello kawaii kitten,” she cooes, “would you like a big ribbon on your ear too like Hello Kitty?” The cat was too happy to oblige. “Yes please”, she meows. And so they both wander around the garden in their big ribbons, along with a big flower-shaped balloon to really bring on the Spring! How adorable they both look!

And now let’s draw about it! This time, I went for pencil sketching. It has been quite some time since doing one, and I felt I needed to practice again especially for the light and shade. Getting a bit rusty here, as you can see but it is a good restart. Here, I used my set of Caran d’Ache Graphite Line pencils which come in 15 levels of hardness ranging from 4H to 9B. Most recommended for dessin work. I will continue to practice more from time to time. A lot of hard work getting the light and shade right but I’m enjoying the challenge and trying to get better at it. Meanwhile, I love my Little One and the neighborhood cat in their big ribbons!
