Enjoying our break in Switzerland! Two nights ago we arrived by the Maloja Pass in the mountains about 16km from our last destination in St. Moritz. Totally in almost the middle of nowhere except for serious hikers and cross-country skiers. What makes this area so special is that the lakes get frozen in the winter on which it snows, resulting in a stunning vast empty space where you can ski and hike across it. And what breathtaking view of the mountains in the background too. We do look forward to our stay here for the next five days to relax in peace, savor the fresh air and keep fit!

And yesterday, we had our first adventure in the snow starting with an 8.8 km walk in the snow! Not often do we get to wander about like this back in the Netherlands . We just kept walking and walking along and across the frozen lake with not a care in the world. Besides the gorgeous views of the Swiss landscape, we were awed and impressed with all the cross-country skiers zooming out and about. So what did we do after this lovely walk? Drove to the local sports shop and rented skis and bought the shoes before nipping over to the information center to book some ski lessons for the following day! Story continues…

How fun! The way you described the frozen lakes with snow, I can almost see them ❤️
