Think of Happy Flowers!

It’s now end of December, almost New Years coming up which we are very much llooking forward to! However, the past weeks we saw so much rain and strong winds across the Netherlands that we are really not in a festive mood as we should be. It’s indeed bad enough days get shorter this time of the year with very limited daylight resulting in a dark and depressing moments. And not only did we once again miss having a White Christmas this year, but we had a Stormy Christmas! Not fun at all. Just when I was looking through my phone camera roll, though, I came across a photo of a painting I hadn’t shared here! At the time, I was practicing with watercolors and attempting floral abstract painting but I didn’t like how it turned out so never mentioned it till now. 

And looking at this now, how could I not like it? What is there not to like about it? Maybe it is not a masterpiece or one of my best work, but I love how it radiates positivity! The bright colors bring out so much energy. And look at the flowers, we miss having them around! I love the vivid violet and pretty pink. The blues are so brilliant! And see how gorgeous the green is. We are lucky to see any green at this time of the year! I cannot remember exactly which set of watercolors I used for this but I believe it was most likely the cheap ones I got on Amazon with myriads of different colors which I wanted to try out. Not the best quality but the variety is great as they include all the bright colors as well as metallic and fluorescent, all in one. 

So the next time you paint something and not like it at the time, don’t throw it out but keep it! Even take a photo of it. Then try digging it out again months later. Your perceptions might change, as I had with this beautiful painting I thought I would never like!
