Sweet Little Angels

And now I’m slowly getting into the Christmas mood! Another Happy Holiday painting here, but this time in digital form, something I enjoy including when producing a set of themed artwork. Last Christmas, I created some Twin Angels, which turned out so beautifully. Angels look so effective in digital artwork with all the shimmer and glimmer, so why not give it a go again this year?

Shimmery Tree

On Procreate app, we start off with a square black background. A Christmas Tree first using the Medium Airbrush which is my standard brush. The green and the stump were assigned separate layers. Then with the Shimmery Chaos brush (not sure which set that came from) and the gold from the Gold Rush metallic palette, I introduced the star. How amazing does that star shine!

Getting Angelic

And now our beautiful kawaii angel. And here I set about painting one, with a seperate layer for each area: Face in airbrush, with the body also with airbrush but with lower opacity, hair with Wet Smudgy Pen, and lots of glitter on her eyes and sleeves with Glitter Pen. And finally the Halo in Glitter Paint. All the glitter brushes are from the Gold Rush set available on Creative Market. So far so pretty!

And Then There Were Three

Once I was happy with how it all looked, I then merged the layers of the angel only and duplicated her to create three. Textures for the tree was then introduced with Leafy Mix and Leafy Solid from the set of Jason’s Texture Brush also available from Creative Market. For further enhancement, blending modes from both these brushes were then switched (Color Dodge and Darken). Finally, some red Glitter Dust was spread around the corners. Now we have it!

And what fun that was! Very happy how it all turned out by just having a play around with the different texture brushes and blending modes. If I do have the time before this Christmas, I might like to have a further play around with this painting and introduce a variation to it. So far, though, I love how sweet my little angels are!
