And now we are back from our trip to Austria and Italy! What a wonderful drive it was, all the beautiful sceneries and to top it off, my partner and I found another new hobby we can both enjoy: hiking! Looking forward to more opportunities. It was certainly a pleasant trip, from start to end. At the beginning of our trip, he surprised me with a cute little present from the gasoline station in Germany, on our way to our destination: A Hello Kitty plush! Now this was unexpected. You know me, I am a passionate collector of this sweet little character otherwise known as “Kitty-chan” back in Japan . So what happened? It all started while my partner was pumping some gas in the car. I then entered the shop in the gasoline station, hoping I’d find a Kitty-chan. Unlikely but worth a try.

In the corner is a shelf full of stuffed animals for kids. Maybe there is an outside chance a Hello Kitty would be lying around somewhere! Alas not. “I think they’ve all gone away”, teases my partner as he lines up to pay for the gas. I was disappointed but not surprised as Hello Kitty’s are rarely sold in gas station shops in Europe. A few minutes later out of the blue he approaches me with one hand behind his back as if he were hiding something. Then suddenly appears a Hello Kitty plush in front of my very eyes! She’s wearing a blue dress with a matching ribbon. “It was the last one”, he winked. Awww that was so sweet of him! My partner is definitely a keeper. And so our new Hello Kitty followed us around during our vacation. Lots of photos of her as if she were a part of us. But she is! And she will definitely be joining us in our future trips too, our travelling Kitty…
