Up and Down Naggler Alm

Day two of our relaxing break by Weissensee in the beautiful lake district in Austria! It starts with my lovely boyfriend cookimg up a lovely breakfast of fried eggs and bacon at the self-service breakfast room in the hotel. How sweet of him! Today the weather was a bit better though raining on and off. Well, good enough to take the off-season ski lift up one of the mountain, Naggler Alm , which stands at over 1,300 meters. As soon as we got there, we followed the “Family track”, a round trip trek of about 45 minutes. And what fun that was! So many amazing sceneries and lots of green. The only regret was that I didn’t have my proper mountain hiking boots on as the trail was mainly in the woods with tough terrain. Not to worry, I am quite accustomed to long walks so I was fine!

After this 45-minutes or so of walking, we also climbed up to the top of the mountain and back down before settling for lunch at a nearby restaurant. The well-deserved bacon dumpling soup (of which we each went for two big dumplings) was not only delicious but also gave us so much energy that rather than take the lift back down, we decided to WALK down! That would be a 75 minutes descend by foot, And we did it! And glad we did because along the way we came across even more impressive sceneries than we had during the earlier hike. Altogether with stops and lunch included it was 5 hours. And we walked for 10 km in total! Then as we walked towards our hotel, a cute little ginger cat pranced across our path, with the most stunning amber eyes I’ve ever seen. I meowed at her and she greeted back with a big meow! How kawaii is that. And that was one icing on the cake for this wonderful long walk we had today!
