Weissensee Hiking and Boat Ride

Here we are again on another road trip with my partner’s Toyota Supra! This time to the lake district of Austria and Italy. We just arrived yesterday late afternoon at the beautiful Weissensee, and today we went for a hike along the trails. According to my partner, we walked a total of 10 km! Halfway along the hike, it began raining a bit. I normally don’t like walking in the rain especially without an umbrella, but I was enjoying the scenery and the trail so much that even I wasn’t deterred by getting slightly wet!

We then decided to keep ourselves dry by seeing if we could join a boat ride along the lake. As we had time to kill before its departure, we grabbed some lunch after the walk and dropped by a nearby restaurant for some Leberknüdel Suppe which is Liver meatball soup, a typical Austrian comfort food. Super yummy! Then we proceeded to the boat and enjoyed a two-hour return trip around the lake. What amazing sceneries despite the crappy weather. Most impressive was the color of the lake; a light blue shade apparently caused by the white calcium formed by the surrounding rocks. And hence Weissensee, literally translated as “White Lake”! Tomorrow still forecasted to rain but not as badly, and we plan on meeting up with friends for another hike along this beautiful lake…
