So this weekend I ended up in Berlin, Germany to watch some polo matches. On Saturday, I did a few pencil sketches as seen in the last blog. The following day, I decided to paint one of them in with watercolour. It was great practice!
Initially the colours came out rather too bright and colourful which would have looked great for each horse, but together, made the painting look confusing. So I toned them down a bit with a shade darker for the corresponding tones. Am starting to get the knack of understanding highlights and shadows a bit better. I like how watercolour adds a sense of continuity and flow. Also looks soothing.
So hopefully soon I’ll be able to paint in the other drawing I did. But I also like it the way it is! Hmmm… kinda thinking…
